F.A.Q.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Does it hurt?
A:  Everyone has a different pain tolerance.  Some have compared the feeling to be similar to plucking/tweezing their eyebrows, which depending on whether or not you pluck/tweeze often, may or may not be painful. We do apply a lidocaine, which is a numbing cream that helps make the procedure as pleasant as possible. Some have described the whole procedure to be so relaxing that they actually fell asleep.

Q: How long does it last?
A:  It depends, but typically 1 to 2 years. The factors that affect how long they last are: the person's age, skin type, sun exposure, skin care products you use, and how active your lifestyle is.

Q:  How long does it take to heal?
A:  7 to 10 days depending on the person.

Q:  How long does the procedure take?
A:  For the initial brow procedure, about 1.5-2 hours. For touch-ups, it is typically about 1 hour.

Q:  I'm very active (weight training, cross-fit, sports, yoga, any form of exercise), will this be an issue?
A:  For at least 1 week, avoid any exercise, since sweat and oils can cause the hair strokes to fade faster, blur and spread out.

Q:  Can I wear makeup after?
A:  Nothing on or near the brows for at least 1 week. You may wear eye makeup, and foundation, etc., but just don't go near the brows!

Q:  Do I need a touch-up procedure?
A:  A touch-up is highly recommended to fill in the areas where the skin might have rejected the pigments from the initial procedure and to complete the brows.

Q: If I am on medications, can I do it?
A: If you have used accutane in the past 10 months then you will not be eligible for this procedure. You should not have a pace maker, be going through chemo, or under the age of 18.  Understand that medicine changes the body's chemistry, which can cause the pigments not to attach to the body's cells. Therefore, pigment retention might not take so well for people who are on medications. Results vary for certain individuals.

Q: What would disqualify me from being a good candidate for this?
A: The most common automatic disqualifiers are if: Pregnant, breast feeding, prone to keloids, undergoing chemotherapy, have a pacemaker/major heart problems, viral infections/diseases.    When booking an appointment, you will be required to answer a yes/no questionnaire which will help us determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

5 Hours after the procedure, cleanse the treated area ONCE with distilled water or boiled water at room temperature with damp cotton ball/pads. Wipe very well to cleanse away all of the ointment.

Apply AQUAPHOR or GRAPESEED oil with Q-tip to keep treated area moist for the first 3 days. Wipe off old layer and apply fresh layer 3 times a day for 3 days.

On the 4th day, allow treated area to completely dry out.

Avoid direct shower water on the treated area for 10 days. You can apply AQUAPHOR on the treated area when showering to repel the water, but wipe off to allow brows to continue to dry out.

During the 10 days healing period, completely avoid these things on the treated area:
·      No water
·      No makeup
·      No lotions
·      No eyebrow pencils
·      No sun
·      No excessive sweating or swimming (sweat will break down pigments)
·      No tanning

After the 10 days, use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the area. Avoid scrubbing area for 1 month.
